Bulldogs Hang on for 94-89 Win at PSU-Wilkes Barre

Sophomore Cody Deal had a career-high 17 points in the win over PSU-Wilkes Barre on Wednesday night.

Lehman, PA (November 20, 2013) – The DeSales University men's basketball team went a perfect 8-for-8 at the foul line over the final 1:50 breaking a tie score at 86 for a 94-89 win over PSU-Wilkes Barre in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.

DSU held a 10-point lead (85-75) with 3:56 to play after two free throws from sophomore Cody Deal but PSU-WB went on an 11-1 run over the next 1:46 to tie the game at 86.

Senior Kyle Hash was fouled on the ensuing possession and knocked down two free throws and after a three-point miss from the Nittany Lions, senior Mike Coleman was fouled and he knocked down two freebies to make it a four-point game.

The two teams traded made free throws on the next two possessions and after Bre-yan Jones made it a three-point game with one charity toss with 42 ticks left, Coleman hit two more free throws with 11 seconds left to make it a five-point game and ultimately a win for the Bulldogs.

DeSales led for the entire first-half before the Nittany Lions closed the half on a 12-4 run to take a 39-27 lead into the locker room.

PSU led by six (52-46) at the 17:41 mark when DSU scored nine straight points on two three's from Coleman and another from Deal to take a three-point lead.  That lead swelled to as many as 10 points with 3:56 to go before PSU-Wilkes Barre made its final push before falling just short.

All five starters scored in double digits for the Bulldogs as they shot 50.0 percent from the field, 63.2 percent (12-of-19) from three-point land, and 77.8 percent (28-of-36) from the free throw line.

Coleman had a game-high 22 points, Deal and senior Paul Pammer each had 17 points, junior Michael Guldin finished with 13 points, and senior Andrew Kohler added 12 tallies.  Hash added eight points off the bench.

Keith Johnson and Denzel Mensah led the Nittany Lions with 19 points each.  Randall Kenneth added 13 points as PSU-WB shot 51.6 percent from the floor.

The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday, November 23rd when they travel to Arcadia University for a non-conference game beginning at 3:00 pm.
