Center Valley, PA (November 20, 2013) – Seniors
Sondrine Glovas and
Alexiah Grant combined for 51 points leading the DeSales University women's basketball team to an 87-60 win over Gwynedd-Mercy College in non-conference action on Wednesday night.
Glovas led the way with a game-high 28 points, including three treys, and Grant added 23 points. Junior
Alex Suk just missed a double-double with nine points and a game-high 11 rebounds, and senior
Megan Gallagher stuffed the stat sheet with seven points, 10 rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Sophomore
Gabby Scott also played well with eight assists and five steals.
Charlotte Kucowski led the Griffins with 14 points and nine rebounds and
Nicole Dougherty reached double figures with 10 points.
The Bulldogs never trailed on Wednesday opening up a 13-4 lead in the first 4:12 as all five starters scored during the opening stretch. The lead was never lower than seven points the rest of the way and was 14 at the half after a 7-0 DSU run to end the half over the final 37 seconds on a Grant three-pointer and four straight points from Glovas.
The second-half was all DeSales. GMC cut the margin to 12 points a few times but a 19-2 run mid-way thru the half gave DSU a 75-46 lead, its largest of the game, and the Bulldogs never looked back.
DSU shot well once again, hitting on 42.9 percent from the field. DSU also out-rebounded GMC, 50-46, and had more assists (24) than turnovers (17) for the game. The Bulldogs also forced Gwynedd-Mercy into 27 turnovers, leading to 26 points.
