Center Valley, PA (December 14, 2013) – The DeSales University men's basketball team shot a season-low 32.1 percent from the field, dropping an 83-64 decision to local rival Muhlenberg College on a snowy Saturday afternoon in Billera Hall.

Sophomore Cody Deal and senior Andrew Kohler each led the way with 12 points and senior Kyle Hash had 10 points and nine boards in the loss.  Junior Michael Guldin added nine points and three assists and sophomore Ryan Furst led the bench with eight points.

Austin Curry scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Mules who saw four players reach double figures including Malique Killing and Alec Stavetski with 15 points each and Kevin Hargrove with 12 points.

Muhlenberg was quick out of the gates taking advantage of the Bulldogs missing their first 10 shots from the field opening up a 10-0 lead and eventually a 28-10 lead 12:14 into the game.

Three straight triples from Guldin, Kohler, and Deal cut the margin down to nine points and led a 20-6 run over the final 6:58 of the half to pull DeSales within four (34-30) at the break.

Neither team shot well in the first half with Muhlenberg hitting on 34.4 percent of its shots and the Bulldogs converting just 34.5 percent.

In the second, the Mules found their shooting touch and DeSales didn't as MC torched the second-half nets, shooting 58.3 percent, making their first nine shots of the half to build a 59-41 lead with 13:18 left to play.

DSU was unable to put together a run, shooting just 29.6 percent over the final 20 minutes as MC's lead peaked at 24 points (80-56) with 4:10 left to play.

The loss is the first to Muhlenberg College since the 2005-06 season as the Mules snap a six-game losing streak to the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs will now break for the holidays and won't return to action till January 3, 2014 when they host Medgar Evers College in Billera Hall at 8:00 pm.
