Huntingdon, PA (December 30, 2013) – Senior Sondrine Glovas hit a three-pointer from the right wing with 41 seconds left and two free throws 19 seconds later leading the DeSales University women's basketball team past Muskingum University, 62-58, and to the 2013 Comfort Inn Holiday Tournament hosted by Juniata College on Monday evening.

The Bulldogs have now won four straight and improve to 8-2 overall.  DSU has now won its own Tip-off Tournament Title and the Juniata College Holiday Tournament title thru the first 10 games.

Senior Alexiah Grant led all scorers with 25 points and added six rebounds and three steals to take home Most Valuable Player honors at the tournament.  Glovas netted 19 points on Monday to also earn All-Tournament Team honors for the Bulldogs.  She also grabbed six rebounds and had four steals.

MU was led by Jasmine Goings who came off the bench to score 19 points as the lone double digit scorer for the Muskies.

DSU had complete control of this game out of the halftime locker room extending two-point halftime lead into an 11-point lead with 16:15 left to play after a 12-3 run to start the half that included three's from both Glovas and Grant.

The lead remained double digits (47-37) with 13:10 to play when the Bulldogs went cold on the offensive end and the Muskies started chipping away.  A 14-3 run over the next 6:40 gave MU a 51-50 lead with 6:30 to play and Muskingum was up three after a jumper from Meghan Billick with 3:05 left to play.

After a missed jumper from Grant senior Megan Gallagher scooped up a loose ball after a Muskie fell to the ground and drove the length of the court for a lay-up cutting the margin down to one with 2:06 to play.

Two Muskie turnovers, a Bulldog turnover, and a missed shot from Gallagher over the next minute of play kept it a one-point game with the Bulldogs in possession of the ball.  After a DSU timeout, Glovas raced around a screen to right wing and sophomore Gabby Scott fed her a perfect pass as Glovas shot in rhythm and nailed a three-pointer giving DSU a 59-57 lead with 41 ticks left.

MU's Goings hit 1-of-2 free throws as Glovas grabbed the defensive rebound and was immediately fouled.  She calmly knocked down two free throws with 22 seconds remaining and after another turnover from Muskingum, Grant was fouled as she iced the win sinking 1-of-2 from the charity stripe with 11 seconds left.

In addition to Grant and Glovas, Gallagher finished with 10 rebounds and junior Alex Suk added seven points and 12 boards.  Scott finished with five assists.

The Bulldogs forced 18 Muskingum turnovers and out-rebounded the Muskies, 45-40.

The Bulldogs return to action on Friday, January 3rd when they host Ursinus College in a non-conference game beginning at 6:00 pm.
