Center Valley, PA (February 16, 2013) – Juniors Sondrine Glovas and Alexiah Grant combined for 40 of DSU's 63 points leading the Bulldogs to a 63-54 win over Eastern University in the final regular season game of the season in Billera Hall on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (18-7, 10-4 Freedom) will enter the post-season as the #3 seed and will travel to King's College in the opening round on Wednesday afternoon with a game time set for 7:00 pm.  DSU and King's split the head-to-head series in the regular season with the home team winning each time.

Glovas led the charge on Saturday with 22 points and Grant added 18 tallies including three treys.  Senior Colleen Gavin finished with 8 points and five boards, junior Megan Gallagher had seven points and senior Taylor Greene finished with seven assists in the win.

The first-half was back-and-fourth with six ties and three lead changes.  Trailing 26-21, DSU used a 9-0 run to take a 30-26 lead and carried that advantage into the locker room leading by five (35-30) at the break after two free throws from Grant to end the half.

The Bulldogs shot just 38.2 percent in the opening half but forced 15 Eagle turnovers offsetting Eastern's 50 percent shooting from the field.

The lead swelled to 10 points to start the half after a three from Grant but Eastern clawed back in the game, using a 13-2 run to tie the game at 48 with 11:46 remaining.  A lay-up from Greene on the next possession gave DSU the lead back and the game was scoreless over the next three minutes as both teams struggled to convert on the offensive end.

A lay-up from EU's Kaitlyn Dougherty ended the drought but Glovas answered with a three igniting a 10-1 Bulldog run that gave the hosts a 60-51 lead with 2:33 remaining and the Bulldogs never looked back from there.  Glovas had seven of the 10 points and Grant added her third three of the game during the spurt.

DSU finished the game shooting 39.0 percent from the field and after allowing Eastern to shoot 50 percent in the first-half, buckled down on defense over the final 20 minutes to hold the Eagles to just 30.4 percent shooting.  The Bulldogs also took excellent care of the ball committing just 11 turnovers and forcing 26, leading to 25 points.

Sophomore Meghan Nowak registered a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds, Gina DiDomenico added 11 points, and Dougherty finished with 10 in the loss.
