Center Valley, PA (February 19, 2013) – The streak is alive as the DeSales University women's basketball team qualified for the Freedom Conference playoffs for the 16th straight season and will enter the post-season as the #3 seed, traveling to long-time rival King's College for the opening round on Wednesday in search of its seventh MAC/Freedom Conference Championship.
Game time is set for 7:00 pm and admission for the event will be $6.00 for adults, $4.00 for senior citizens, and $2.00 for students w/ID. All children under the age of six are FREE.

DeSales/King's Series:
DeSales owns a 29-25 lead in the all-time series between the two long-time rivals. This will be the ninth career meeting in the Freedom Conference playoffs and 10th overall in the post-season that includes one match-up in the NCAA Tournament. The series is tied at four wins apiece in the Freedom playoffs. The regular season series this season was a split with each home team winning and the Bulldogs are 12-14 all-time vs. the Lady Monarchs in Scandlon Gymnasium.
Regular Season Series
Game One at King's (L/61-64)
King's College hit two free throws with 5.3 seconds left to break a tie at 61 and held on for a 64-61 win negating a career-high performance from junior
Alexiah Grant finishing with 32 points on 13-of-27 shooting from the field. The game featured 13 ties. The Bulldogs committed a season-high 29 turnovers in the loss and forced just eight from the Lady Monarchs. Junior
Sondrine Glovas finished with a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Game Two at DeSales (W/63-48)
DeSales shot 50.0 percent in the second-half and erased a four-point halftime deficit out-scoring King's by 19 in the second-half in the win. Junior
Sondrine Glovas had 19 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, and five steals in the win. Senior
Colleen Gavin added 10 points, all in the second-half, to reach the 1,000 point plateau. Unlike in the first meeting, DSU took much better care of the ball finishing with more assists (21) than turnovers (19).
DeSales in the Freedom Playoffs:
DeSales is making its 16th straight Freedom Conference playoff appearance. DSU joined the Freedom Conference at the start of the 1997-98 season and hasn't missed the post-season. The Bulldogs have won six conference titles, including four of the last five, and are 18-9 all-time in the Freedom post-season. DSU is 6-8 all-time on the road in the Freedom playoffs.
King's in the Freedom Playoffs:
King's is making its 17th trip to the Freedom Conference playoffs in the past 18 years. Since the Freedom postseason became just the Freedom Conference teams in 2000-01, King's has posted an 8-9 record and have won two Conference titles.
About the Bulldogs:
DeSales enters the post-season with an 18-7 overall record, having won two straight and posting a 15-3 record over its last 18 games. Junior
Sondrine Glovas leads the team in scoring (18.2 PPG) and steals (2.8 SPG), while also ranking second on the team in rebounding (6.6 RPG). Glovas is also shooting a team-high 82.8 percent (96-for-116) from the free throw line and had registered a team-high six double-doubles this season. Fellow junior
Alexiah Grant has had a breakout season averaging 13.3 points per game and 5.0 rebounds per game, while senior
Colleen Gavin also averages double digits at 10.8 points per game and leads the team on the glass pulling down 6.8 boards per game. Senior
Taylor Greene has dished out an average of 6.3 assists per game and enters the week ranked fifth in the country. The Bulldogs are 10-0 this season when scoring 70+ points and 17-3 when scoring 60+. DSU is also 11-1 when out-rebounding the opposition and 12-1 when allowing less than 60 points in a game.
About the Lady Monarchs:
King's enters the post-season having tied FDU-Florham for first place in the standings but lost the tiebreaker to fall into the #2 seed. Senior
Katlin Michaels leads the Lady Monarchs in virtually every statistical category including scoring (15.2 PPG), assists (7.1 APG), and steals (87), while ranking second on the team in rebounding at 6.5 rebounds per game. Fellow senior
Celia Rader also averages double digits at 13.6 points per game and has made a team-high 73 made three-pointers, while the third senior
Lindsay Atchison rounds out the scoring leaders averaging 10.3 per game. Freshman
Jennifer Fabian is the team leader on the glass pulling down 7.2 rebounds per game.
