Box Score
Gwynedd-Valley, PA (March 19, 2013) – Gwynedd-Mercy College broke a tie at eight with three goals over the final 1:18 of the third quarter and DeSales University committed nine penalties leading to four Griffin man-up goals as a late fourth quarter rally fell just short in a 13-12 loss on Tuesday afternoon.

The game was tied at eight with 6:31 left to play in the third quarter.  After the two teams went back-and-forth for just over five minutes GMC went up one (9-8) with a goal with 1:18 on the third quarter clock.  Just 66 seconds later it became 10-8 Gwynedd as just 12 seconds remained in the quarter, but the Griffins weren't done, scoring just nine seconds later with only three ticks left to open up an 11-8 lead with three tallies in a span of 1:15 to end the period.

The Bulldogs quieted the momentum to pull within two (11-9) with 12:43 to go but another Griffin goal followed by a DSU penalty and GMC's fourth man-up goal of the game with 9:24 left made it a 13-9 game.

Neither team scored for the next 7:26 before DSU almost pulled off a miracle comeback, scoring once with 1:58 left, again just 10 seconds later to pull within two, and got within one goal with 37 seconds left.  The Bulldogs won the ensuing face-off and had possession out of a timeout, but were unable to get a shot off as time expired on the game and the comeback.

Senior James Guerrier led the scoring with three goals and one assist for four points and sophomore Nate Blevins finished with two goals and an assist.  Senior Jarrod Wiedow finished with three goals.

Sophomores Ryan Rowse and Lance Bracale each had one goal and one assist and junior Chalie Wilmer and senior Billy Marsh rounded out the scoring with one goal apiece.  Freshman Dylan Baxter had a strong game winning 7-of-8 face-offs and picked up a team-high nine ground balls.  Freshman goalkeeper, Matt Warnken, made nine saves in the loss.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Friday when they travel to Kean University for a non-conference game beginning at 7:00 pm.
