Center Valley, PA (March 23, 2013) – Two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning completed a comeback in game one and a five-run first inning in game two led the DeSales University baseball team to a doubleheader sweep of Wilkes University by scores of 6-5 and 7-2 completing the three-game sweep of the Colonels as both teams finally returned to action this weekend.
The Bulldogs have now won seven straight and improve to 9-4 overall and 4-0 in the Freedom, while Wilkes falls to 7-4 overall and 1-3 in the Freedom.

Trevor Connors did the rest blanking Wilkes over the final two innings thanks to two terrific defensive plays to end the seventh inning. After Wilkes put the tying run on third with one, junior
Mark Fuse made a terrific running catch to record the second out in shallow right field and freshman
Alec Hardy made a gorgeous diving stop to his right, jumped up, and fired a strike to first base to record the final out and preserve the one-run win in game one.
Reyes earned the win leading a strong bullpen effort that blanked Wilkes over the final 4 2/3 innings and Connors earned the save. Scerbo had two hits and scored twice and Fischer finished with two RBIs in the win.
In game two, DSU jumped out early this time and never looked back from there. Once again Scerbo got things started with a line drive single to lead-off the bottom of the first inning. Mauro knocked in Scerbo and Kavetski with a double two batters later and Chrismer, Hardy, and sophomore
Drew Borger each had RBIs to finish off the five-run first.
The Bulldogs added a solo run in both the second and fifth innings and freshman
Steven Wallace did the rest going 5.1 innings allowing just two hits and one unearned run, striking out four and working out of jams in the second, third, and fourth innings.
Mauro finished game two, 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs and Chrismer added two hits as eight of the nine starters in the lineup recorded at least one hit.
Tomorrow's scheduled doubleheader at Misericordia has been postponed as the Cougars must make up today's PPD DH with Manhattanville. No make-up date has been announced as of yet.
