Bulldogs Roll Past Eastern, 21-11; Pacillo Tosses Six Strong Innings

St. David's, PA (March 28, 2013) – Senior Jack Kavetski led a 21-hit attack with four hits and senior Colby Pacillo pitched six strong innings allowing just two runs leading the DeSales University baseball team past Eastern University, 21-11, to keep the Bulldogs unbeaten in Freedom Conference play this season.

The Bulldogs scored in all but one inning, taking a 4-0 lead with one in the first on an RBI double from senior Brian Mauro and scored three more in the second inning on RBI singles from freshman Alec Hardy and Kavetski and a sacrifice fly from senior Justin Scerbo.

It was a 6-2 game entering the fifth inning when the Bulldogs broke it open with six runs in the fifth including two-RBI doubles from senior Derek Chrismer and junior Mark Westdyk.  Eastern put up seven runs in the seventh inning to pull within 14-9, but DSU answered with another six-spot in the eighth to put the exclamation point on the win.

Pacillo earned his first win of the season pitching six innings allowing just six hits, two unearned runs, walking none, and striking out three.

Among the top hitters were Scerbo with two hits and two runs scored, junior Mark Fuse with three runs scored, Kavetski with four hits, four runs, and three RBIs, Mauro with two hits, two runs scored, and three RBIs, and Chrismer with two hits, two runs, and four RBIs.  Hardy also contributed with three hits, two runs scored, and two RBIs.

The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday afternoon when they host PSU-Berks in a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm.
