Center Valley, PA (April 17, 2013) – Freshman
Evan Fraser went 4-for-4 with five RBIs and three runs scored leading the DeSales University baseball team to its fourth straight win, 16-7, over Ursinus College in a non-conference game on Wednesday afternoon.
The Bears took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning but it was all Bulldogs after that. DSU took the lead for good in the second inning scoring eight times on an RBI double
Justin Scerbo, a three-RBI double from senior
Jack Kavetski, an RBI single from Fraser, and an RBI single from sophomore
Nick Fischer.
DSU added three more runs in the fourth on a two-RBI triple from Fraser and an RBI single from Fischer. Senior
Brian Mauro and Fraser each knocked in runs in a two-run fifth inning and the Bulldogs tacked on three more in the seventh to take a 16-3 lead. Freshman
Carrington Santana knocked in a run with a double in the seventh and Fraser and Fischer also had RBIs.
Ursinus provided the final margin in the eighth when
Kevin Wilson hit a grand slam with one out in the inning.
Freshman
Steven Wallace earned the win going five strong innings allowing just five hits and those two first inning runs. It was Wallace' fourth win of the season.
Scerbo finished 3-for-5 with three runs scored, freshman
Jake Yannessa scored twice, Mauro had two hits and scored twice, Kavetski finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs, and Fischer had two hits and three RBIs.
The Bulldogs return to action on Friday when they travel to Manhattanville College for a Freedom Conference game beginning at 3:30 pm.
