Bethlehem, PA (April 30, 2013) – The DeSales University baseball team committed six errors leading to four unearned runs, suffering a 9-6 loss to local rival Moravian College in a non-conference game on Tuesday afternoon.

Moravian took a 2-0 lead with runs in the second and third innings before taking control in the fourth inning with five runs, two unearned, on just three hits.  The Bulldogs did answer with two tallies in the top of the fifth inning on an RBI single from sophomore Drew Borger scoring freshman Evan Fraser who tripled to lead off the fifth.  Senior Justin Scerbo came around to score on a sacrifice fly from senior Brian Mauro but the Bulldogs had a runner thrown out at home during the inning preventing more damage.

The Greyhounds put two more runs on the board, both unearned, in the bottom of the eighth inning before the Bulldogs had one last rally in them in the ninth.  Six of the first seven batters reached base making it a 9-6 game and with two outs, DSU had the bases loaded and go-ahead run at the plate but Scerbo flew out to leftfield to end the game.

Freshman Steven Wallace took the loss lasting just three plus innings allowing four earned runs and four hits.  Mauro continued to be a bright spot, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while junior Charles Dennis, Fraser, junior Mark Fuse, and Scerbo all had two hits in the loss.

The Bulldogs return to action tomorrow when they host Muhlenberg College in another non-conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
