Dan Gayeski and sophomore
Eric Dillard each pitched well and the DeSales University baseball team rebounded from its first Freedom Conference loss yesterday to sweep a Freedom Conference doubleheader on Saturday at Delaware Valley College by scores of 6-3 and 4-2 to win two of three in the series with the Aggies over the weekend.
The Bulldogs improve to 17-6 overall and 9-1 in the Freedom Conference with the two wins. In the opener, Gayeski went five innings allowing just four hits and only one earned run to earn his fourth win of the season. Freshman
Chris Zampini came in to throw two scoreless innings to earn the save, the first of his career.
The Bulldogs never trailed scoring once in the first on an RBI groundout from senior
Jack Kavetski, once in the third on an Aggie error, three times in the fourth on an RBI single from freshman
Steven Wallace, and a bases loaded walk by sophomore
Drew Borger, and provided the final margin with a solo run in the sixth on an RBI single by Borger.
Freshman
Alec Hardy finished the game with three hits and freshman
Evan Fraser had two hits and scored twice. Borger was 1-for-2 with two walks and a run scored.
In the second game, Dillard earned his third win of the season pitching six strong innings allowing just four hits and striking out five and junior
Tyler Reyes pitched a 1-2-3 seventh to earn his second save of the year. The Aggies went in order in four of the seven innings.
The Bulldogs once again jumped out early scoring twice in the first inning on an Aggie error and an RBI single from senior
Derek Chrismer. DSU added single runs in the fourth when Chrismer scored on a wild pitch and sixth when Chrismer scored yet again.
Chrismer finished with two hits, two runs scored, and an RBI, junior
Mark Fuse had two hits and scored once, and Borger was once again on-base three times out of the lead-off spot in the win.
The Bulldogs are back at it tomorrow when they travel to Misericordia University for another Freedom Conference doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm.
