Quakertown, PA (May 4, 2013) – Senior Colby Pacillo tossed his second complete-game of the season pitching the DeSales University baseball team past Manhattanville College, 5-1, and into the Freedom Conference Championship game and giving head coach Tim Neiman his 600th career win on another beautiful Saturday afternoon at Quakertown's Memorial Park.

The Bulldogs await the winner in the final game of the day between Misericordia University and Manhattanville College.  First pitch is set for Noon tomorrow and whomever the Bulldogs play will need to beat DSU twice.  DeSales needs just one win tomorrow to take home its ninth Freedom Conference title and more importantly earn its 10th trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Neiman becomes the 38th coach in NCAA Division III to earn 600 wins in his career.  He now owns a 600-331-5 career record in 24 seasons with the Bulldogs.

After Pacillo turned aside the Valiants in the top of the first inning in order, senior Justin Scerbo led off the bottom of the inning with a single down the right field line.  Junior Mark Fuse moved Scerbo to third on a single thru the left side and Neiman gave senior Brian Mauro a 3-0 green light as he sent a high pop to second base that was dropped but Fuse was forced out at second while Scerbo scampered home with the game's first run.

It remained a 1-0 game into the bottom of the fifth inning when Scerbo got things started once again singling to left with one out.  Fuse rolled a ball up the middle putting runners on first and second and Mauro came thru yet again, blasting a double to left-center field that one-hopped the wall scoring both Scerbo and Fuse and he came around to score one batter later on a Valiant throwing error by the shortstop making it 4-0 Bulldogs thru five frames.

DSU added an insurance run in the seventh when senior Jack Kavetski hit a sacrifice fly to leftfield scoring Fuse who had singled with one out to start the inning and Pacillo did the rest.

He set down the Valiants in order four times and got stronger as the game went longer.  MVC only had two runners reach second base thru the first eight innings before stringing together three hits in the ninth to plate its only run.  He improves to 3-1 on the season scattering five hits and striking out three.

Scerbo, Fuse, and Mauro combined to go 7-for-11 with five runs scored and three RBIs at the top of the Bulldog order.  Junior Charles Dennis added two hits in the win.
