Bulldogs Late Push Falls Short; Settle for 0-0 Tie

Junior Michelle Churchman made three saves on Saturday to earn her second straight shutout at Washington College (MD).
Box Score
Chestertown, MD (August 31, 2013) – After a mostly even first 70 minutes of the game, the DeSales University women's soccer team dominated play over the final 40 minutes and especially in the two overtimes but were unable to find the back of the net settling for a 0-0 double overtime tie with Washington College (MD) on Saturday evening.

Shots were about even thru the first 70 minutes or so before the Bulldogs turned up the offensive pressure out-shooting WC, 16-5, for the game but 8-1 in the two overtime periods but were just never able to score.  DSU's last pressure came with about 30 seconds left in the second overtime on a corner kick that seemed to bounce around the goalmouth for several minutes but eventually was kicked wide of the goal as time expired on the goal kick.

Freshman Jessica Wetherhold led the shooting attack with four shots on goal and junior Michelle Churchman recorded her second straight shutout with three saves in between the pipes.  The Bulldogs held a 6-0 edge in corner kicks for the game.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Wednesday evening when they travel to Cabrini College for a non-conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
