Center Valley, PA (September 11, 2013) – Sophomore
Jamie Barna scored both goals as the DeSales University women's soccer team moved its unbeaten streak to five games with a 2-0 win over Rosemont College on a sweltering hot Wednesday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (3-0-2) are now just one win or tie shy of tying the all-time mark of six consecutive games without a loss set during the 2006 season. DSU's next game is on the road on Saturday at Drew University.
On Wednesday with temperatures approaching the mid-90's DSU out-shot Rosemont, 23-7, for the game and had a 7-0 advantage on corner kicks.
The first goal from Barna came at the 11:58 mark when a corner kick feed from senior
Ariel Merkt flew over everyone and found Barna's foot where she took two touches and fired a shot just inside the far post. DSU had several chances to make it a 2-0 game over the final 33 minutes of the first half but RC's
Andrea Dossantos came up with eight first-half saves to keep it a one-goal game.
In the second half Barna struck again in the 62nd minute taking a crossing pass from freshman
Jessica Wetherhold in front of the goalmouth and unmarked, took a touch, and fired a laser out of mid-air just past the ear of the Raven keeper and into the net.
Junior
Michelle Churchman was solid in goal making four saves and recording her third shutout of the season in the win.
Game time for Saturday at Drew is set for 1:00 pm.
