Center Valley, PA (September 17, 2013) – A scoreless game at the half was broken open in the second-half as senior
Brady Walsh and sophomore
Jamie Barna each scored leading the DeSales University women's soccer team to a 2-0 win over Albright College on a perfect Tuesday afternoon.
The first-half saw just five shots triggered with the Bulldogs (4-1-2) taking three of them but the offense opened up a bit in the second-half as DSU fired seven shots to four for the Lions (2-3).
Walsh started the scoring as she flicked home a header back into the box from Barna that just slid past the Lion keeper and into the corner of the net at 58:59. It was Walsh third goal of the season and the 26th of her career.
Barna got into the act just six minutes later, tallying the insurance marker on a beautiful play set-up by the Bulldogs. Senior
Ashley Koren took control of a ball on the right side just above the box and found freshman
Eve Barna at the top of the box. Barna turned left and saw J. Barna alone on the left post and she touched a pass over for a shot that caromed off the far post and into the net.
AC did have a strong scoring chance later in the game on a free kick just above the box but the shot went high as junior
Michelle Churchman made three saves to record her fourth shutout of the season.
The Bulldogs will return to action on Saturday, September 21st when they host Alvernia University in a non-conference game beginning at 1:00 pm.
