Brady Walsh scored her first goal of the season and the DeSales University women's soccer team battled back from a one-goal deficit in the second-half to stay unbeaten on the season with a 2-2 double overtime tie at Cabrini College on Wednesday afternoon.
DSU led 1-0 24:44 into the game when Walsh got control of the rebound of her own shot and scored her first goal of the season and her first since the 2011 season. The goal was also the 24th of her career and the 57th point of her career moving her into third place all-time on both lists.
It remained a 1-0 lead into the half before the Cavaliers came out strong in the second half tying the game just 5:31 into the second half and taking a 2-1 lead just 3:27 after the tying marker as the Bulldogs faced its first deficit of the season after recording shutouts in their first two games this season.
DeSales responded as freshman
Jessica Wetherhold scored her first career goal, unassisted, in the 67th minute to the game at two.
The game moved into overtime and eventually a second extra period as not much offense was produced with just two shots, one for each team, being recorded before the two teams settled for a 2-2 draw.
Junior
Michelle Churchman was again solid in goal, making three saves. Both teams finished with 10 shots and Cabrini had a slight 4-3 edge in corners.
The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday when they travel to Moravian College for another non-conference game beginning at Noon.
