Gallagher’s Monster Effort Leads Bulldogs past Valiants, 84-60

Senior Megan Gallagher came up just three rebounds shy of tying the all-time record in a game on Wednesday vs. Manhattanville College.

Center Valley, PA (January 29, 2014) – Senior Megan Gallagher set new career-highs in both points (19) and rebounds (22) recording her fourth double-double of the season and leading four Bulldogs in double figures as the DeSales University women's basketball team ran past Manhattanville College, 84-60, in Freedom Conference action on Wednesday evening.

Junior Alex Suk joined Gallagher recording her sixth double-double with a season-high 18 points and 13 rebounds and seniors Alexiah Grant (21 points) and Sondrine Glovas (13 points) also reached double figures to lead the Bulldogs (14-4, 4-3 Freedom).

Ashley Franklin led the Valiants (7-11, 2-5 Freedom) with a team-high 20 points and Bri Pabon added 12 points.  Alyson Caiazzo was held to just nine points and 11 rebounds before fouling out in the loss.

The Bulldogs started quickly opening up a 15-5 lead just 5:25 into the game before the Valiants countered with a 13-2 run to take an 18-17 lead at the 10:27 mark.

DeSales took over after that using a 12-0 run to take a 29-18 lead with 4:51 to go and led by as many as 15 points (39-24) in the first-half before settling on a 39-26 halftime edge.  Grant (12) and Suk (10) led the way in the opening twenty minutes.

The second-half was all Bulldogs, opening the half on an 11-0 run to take a 50-26 lead and saw the lead peak at 29 points (82-53) before the final margin was posted.

Gallagher came up just three rebounds shy of tying the all-time record for rebounds in a game.  DSU 44.8 percent from the field and dominated the glass, out-rebounding MVC, 61-33, leading to 25 second-chance points.

The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday when they travel to King's College for another Freedom Conference game beginning at 1:00 pm.
