Walsh/Wetherhold Key Late Comeback in 3-2 Win over King's

Center Valley, PA (October 11, 2014) – Senior Brady Walsh and sophomore Jess Wetherhold connected with each other on two goals within 4:23 late in the second-half to turn a 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 win for the DeSales University women's soccer team over King's College in Freedom Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (5-5-3, 2-0 Freedom) were on the ropes late as King's (3-6-2, 0-2 Freedom) broke a 1-1 tie in the 70th minute when Alexandra Garrett scored unassisted giving KC a 2-1 lead.

The score remained into the 81st minute when Wetherhold scored on a shot that caromed off the far post and inside the near post for her first goal of the season on an assist from Walsh.

Just 4:23 later it was Walsh turn as Wetherhold sent a long pass over the top to Walsh who got behind the Lady Monarch defense and beat the goalkeeper inside the far post for her second tally of the game, the seventh of the season, and ultimately the game-winner.

King's had taken a 1-0 lead at 20:33 when Erin Laird scored off an assist from Christina Nassaney before DSU tied the game at one at 31:30 when Walsh scored off an assist from freshman Gabby Lucchese.

DSU finished the game out-shooting King's, 17-8, and held an 8-4 edge in corner kicks.  Senior Michelle Churchman made two saves in the win.

The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday when they host Manhattanville College in another Freedom Conference game beginning at 3:30 pm.
