Center Valley, PA (October 25, 2014) – Senior
Amanda Wallitsch totaled 46 digs, including 25 vs. SUNY-Canton, to reach 2,000 digs in her career despite the DeSales University volleyball team dropping two matches on day two of the Bulldog Rumble in Billera Hall.
The Bulldogs (20-10 overall) dropped a 3-0 decision (25-17, 25-22, 25-18) to start the day and then fell in five sets, 3-2 (17-25, 25-9, 19-25, 25-19, 11-15), to Marywood University to finish off the day.
Wallitsch totaled 25 digs in the loss to SUNY-Canton to start the day giving her exactly 2,000 digs in her career and making her just the second player in team history (
Kerri Andrews) to record 2,000+ digs in a career.
Senior
Julie Blessing also played well in the loss to Canton totaling nine kills and two blocks and sophomore
Lisa Wallitsch had 27 assists. Freshman
Bernadette Wood added 14 digs.
It was a back-and-forth match vs. Marywood with the Pacers taking the first set 25-17 before DSU dominated the second, 25-9. The third and fourth sets were split by identical 25-19 scores before Marywood rallied late to score the final four points of the fifth and deciding set for a 15-11 win.
Freshman
Sienna Heist led the charge with 12 kills and Blessing added 11. Senior
Chrissy Banos finished with 10 kills and two blocks, while freshman
Logan Wieziolowski had 10 kills and six blocks.
L. Wallitsch had 39 assists, 15 digs, and three aces, while A. Wallitsch added 21 digs. A. Wallitsch was the lone Bulldog named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday, October 29
th when they travel to FDU-Florham for the final regular season Freedom Conference game beginning at 7:00 pm.
