Bulldogs Win Fourth Straight, 3-1, at Richard Stockton

Galloway, NJ (October 7, 2014) – Senior Alison Malatesta had one goal and one assist leading the DeSales University field hockey team to its fourth straight win, 3-1, at Richard Stockton College on Tuesday evening in non-conference action.

The Bulldogs (8-4) started the scoring just 2:33 into the game as freshman Tess Luzi scored her fourth goal of the season off a pass from junior Jesse Marshall, deflecting in a shot on the left post.

The one-goal lead stood into the 26th minute when the Ospreys (5-6) tied the score on a goal from Colleen Knight off an assist from Averi Olive and the game remained tied into the half.

Malatesta then scored the eventual game-winner at 51:07 taking a pass from junior Meryah Harding in the circle and scoring her third goal of the year.  DSU added an insurance goal just 2:23 later when sophomore Nicola McDermott scored her fifth goal of the season off an assist from Alison Malatesta.

The Bulldog defense and junior Becky Rasmuson did the rest as Rasmuson made four saves in the win and junior Julia Martinez and senior Rachel Wysocky each had a defensive save in the win.

The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday when they return to Freedom Conference action to host Wilkes University beginning at 2:00 pm.
