Michael Guldin had a career-high tying 18 points and senior
Travis Bryan had a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds leading the DeSales University men's basketball team to an 85-60 win over Baptist Bible College in the season opener on Saturday night in Billera Hall.
Guldin shot 6-of-8 from the field and Bryan stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, a career-high 12 boards, five assists, and two blocks. Junior
Cody Deal had 15 points and sophomore
Brian Laird came off the bench to add 14 points as 12 Bulldogs reached the scoring column in the win. Freshman
Aaron Burton had a strong debut with eight points and six boards off the bench.
BBC saw four players score in double digits as well including
Marqwon Wynn with 13 points,
Nick Peters with 11 tallies, and
Adam Brinkley and
Abe Valentine with 10 points each.
DSU jumped out of the gates and never looked back on Saturday. The Bulldogs made their first four shots and opened up a 16-4 lead in the first 4:37 before the Defenders could even blink.
Out of a timeout BBC got within seven (18-11) before five straight points pushed the lead back to 12 points and the Bulldogs led by double digits the rest of the way.
The lead peaked at 18 in the first-half with DSU leading by 13 at the break and was as high as 28 points in the second-half with just under six minutes left to play.
DSU dominated the paint out-scoring Baptist Bible, 38-14, and owning a 50-34 edge on the glass. DeSales finished the game shooting 43.8 percent from the field and hit 13-of-14 (92.9 percent) from the free throw line.

th when they host PSU-Wilkes Barre in Billera Hall at 7:00 pm.
