Julie Blessing had 10 kills leading the DeSales University volleyball team past Misericordia University, 3-0 (25-18, 25-10, 25-21), in the semifinals of the Freedom Conference Tournament on Wednesday evening in Billera Hall.
The Bulldogs (23-11) advance to the Freedom Conference championship game at Eastern University looking at a chance to knock off the six-time defending champion Eagles. It will be the fourth straight trip to the title game for the Bulldogs and the seventh in the last eight years having won one championship in 2007. EU defeated Wilkes, 3-0, in the other semifinal on Wednesday.
DeSales cruised on Wednesday erasing an 11-8 deficit in the first set to win 25-18, dominating the second set with a 25-10 win, and pulling away late in the third set to 25-21.
Blessing hit .333 and also had two blocks to lead the Bulldogs and freshman
Sienna Heist added nine kills and senior
Chrissy Banos finished with five kills. Sophomore
Lisa Wallitsch finished with 27 assists, two aces, and 10 digs, while senior
Amanda Wallitsch added 12 digs and two aces in the win.
Match time for the championship on Saturday is set for 5:00 pm.
