Bulldogs Fall to Eastern in Volleyball Title Match, 3-0

St. David's, PA (November 8, 2014) – Eastern University won its seventh straight Freedom Conference title defeating the DeSales University volleyball team, 3-0 (25-21, 25-3, 25-19), on Saturday evening.

The Bulldogs (23-12 overall) will now await a possible ECAC bid on Monday looking to extend their season.  Eastern (29-5 overall) earns the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament with the field also being announced on Monday.

DSU fought hard on Saturday looking to pull the upset and had the Eagles on the ropes in the first set scoring five straight points near the end of the set to take an 18-17 lead forcing an Eastern timeout.

Out of the timeout Eastern tied the game and took a 21-18 lead before a service error gave DSU the serve back.  A block for the Eagles made it 22-19 and EU held on late for the 25-21 win.

The second set was all Eagles and the Bulldogs were unable to get anything going falling 25-3 but fought hard in the third set pulling to within three points twice late (17-14 and 20-17) before Eastern scored five of the last seven points to earn the win.

Freshman Logan Wieziolowski led the Bulldogs with four kills and senior Chrissy Banos had two kills and four blocks.  Sophomore Lisa Walltisch finished with three kills, 10 assists, and 13 digs, while senior Amanda Wallitsch led the defense with 14 digs.
