Gwynedd-Valley, PA (March 12, 2014) – Junior
Ryan Loughlin scored four goals and added an assist but it wasn't enough as the DeSales University men's lacrosse team fell to Gwynedd-Mercy College, 11-9, in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.
The Bulldogs (0-4) never led in the game but did mount several comebacks only to just fall short vs. the Griffins (2-2). GMC scored the first four goals of the game before the Bulldogs stormed back with four straight tallies including three in a span of 1:29 to tie the game at four.
The game remained tied at five before Gwynedd took an 8-5 lead and the Bulldogs never got any closer than one goal the rest of the way. GMC out-shot DSU, 33-25, and had a 26-12 advantage in ground balls. Gwynedd also won 15-of-23 face-offs and was a perfect 12-for-12 in clear attempts.
Loughlin led the scoring attack and was trailed by junior
Ryan Rowse with three goals and an assist for four points. Junior
Nate Blevins had one goal and two assist for three points and senior
Jacob Bernier also scored a goal. Senior
James Guerrier, freshman
Justin Wilson, and junior
Dylan Baxter all had assists in the loss.
Baxter won 7-of-20 face-offs and had a team-high five ground balls, while sophomore
Matt Warnken made 12 saves in between the pipes.
The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday, March 19
th vs. Kean University beginning at 7:00 pm.
