Box Score
Union, NJ (March 18, 2014) – Freshman
Danny Licamara had four hits to lead a 12-hit attack for DeSales University but the Bulldogs left 10 men on-base falling to nationally ranked Kean University, 6-2, in DSU's first game since its spring trip two weeks ago.
DSU took leads of 1-0 and 2-1 in top of the first and fourth inning before the Cougars took control with a four-run bottom of the fourth inning to lead 5-2 and held the Bulldogs scoreless over the final five innings to earn the win.
Senior
Mark Westdyk gave DeSales (1-7) a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning with a two-out RBI single scoring Licamara and DSU led 2-1 after three and a half innings on an RBI single from junior
Drew Borger before KU scored four times in the bottom of the fourth inning thanks in part to two walks to lead off the inning and a bases clearing triple with no one out by
Anthony Fischetti.
Sophomore
Steven Wallace suffered the loss going three innings allowing five runs and walking four batters. DSU's bullpen did a nice job allowing just three hits and one run over the final six innings. Licamara finished 4-for-5 with a run scored and Borger was the only other Bulldog with multiple hits, garnering two singles in the loss.
The Bulldogs are right back at it tomorrow when they travel to Haverford College for another non-conference game beginning at 3:30 pm.
