Justin Wilson scored four goals and the DeSales University men's lacrosse team got off to a fast start opening up a 4-0 lead en route to an 11-5 win over Immaculata University in non-conference action on Friday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (1-7 overall) out-scored the Mighty Macs (0-8 overall) 4-0 in the first quarter and held a 5-1 advantage at the half. IU pulled to within 6-4, 5:19 into the third quarter, but freshman
Tyler Newman ended the IU rally with a goal to make it 7-4 and DSU out-scored Immaculata, 4-1, in the fourth quarter to secure its first win of the season.
Wilson led the Bulldogs with his four tallies, senior
Evan Burns had one goal and two assists, Newman and senior
Jacob Bernier each had two goals, and senior
James Guerrier added a goal and an assist in the win. Junior
Ryan Loughlin tallied one goal and junior
Nate Blevins dished out an assist to round out the scoring Bulldog scoring.
Junior
Dylan Baxter finished with 12 face-off wins in 19 attempts and picked up 10 ground balls, while Loughlin also added six ground balls. Sophomore
Matt Warnken made 15 saves in between the pipes.
The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday, April 2
nd when they host Manhattanville College in the first Freedom Conference game of the season beginning at 4:00 pm.
