Evan Burns had four assists as the DeSales University men's lacrosse team cruised to a 14-4 win over Manhattanville College in the Freedom Conference season opener on a perfect spring afternoon on Wednesday.
A tight game after one quarter in which both teams scored twice saw DSU (2-7, 1-0 Freedom) break the game open with four straight goals to take a 6-3 lead into the half after the Valiants (0-10, 0-1 Freedom) got on the board in the second quarter with just 18 seconds left to play.
The Bulldogs pushed their lead up to seven goals in the third quarter out-scoring MVC, 4-0, in the first stanza of the second-half and added four more goals in the fourth to post the final margin.
Loughlin led the scoring attack with his four goals and Burns added four assists in the win. Junior
Nate Blevins had two goals and two assists, freshman
Justin Wilson finished with two goals and an assist, and senior
Bruce Peditto added three goals off the bench late. Freshman

James Guerrier each had one goal and one assist and junior
Lance Bracale finished with an assist in the win.

Dylan Baxter was outstanding in the face-off circle winning 15-of-21 and picking up a game-high 10 ground balls. Junior
Bryan Correnti had three ground balls and forced a team-high three turnovers and sophomore
Matt Warnken was solid in goal making six saves for the win.
The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday when they host King's College in another Freedom Conference game beginning at 1:00 pm.
