Carrington Santana went 4-for-5 to lead a 15-hit attack as the DeSales University baseball team won its fourth straight game, 13-8, over Arcadia University in a non-conference game on Tuesday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (19-13) dominated from the start scoring twice in the first inning when senior
Brian Mauro doubled home freshman
Tyler Sweeney and Santana singled home junior
Jonathan Bujtas. The double by Mauro was the 56
th of his career tying him with
Scott Matejicka for the all-time lead.
After Arcadia (7-22-1) tied the game in the top of the second inning, DSU took the lead for good with six runs in the second inning on an RBI single from junior
Drew Borger, sacrifice flies from both Bujtas and Mauro, an RBI single from Santana and RBI single from freshman
Mike Kacergis.
The Bulldogs added three more runs in the fourth on RBI hits from freshman
Jesse Smoot and freshman
Chris Lee to take an 11-6 lead and never looked back from there.
Junior
Trevor Connors earned the win in relief pitching three strong innings allowing just one hit and striking out three.
Santana added two runs and two RBIs to his four hits, Kacergis finished with three hits, Lee and freshman
Tommy DePaul each had two hits with DePaul scoring three times, and Sweeney scored twice in the win. Mauro and Bujtas each knocked in two runs.
The Bulldogs return to action tomorrow when they host Haverford College in another non-conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
