Dallas, PA (April 23, 2014) – Junior Lance Bracale scored four goals but Misericordia University won the opening faceoff in overtime and scored on its second shot 1:19 into the first extra period for a 7-6 win over the Bulldogs in Freedom Conference action on Wednesday evening.

The loss is the Bulldogs first in the Freedom falling to 5-9 overall and 4-1 in the Freedom Conference with one game left to play at Eastern on Saturday.  DSU has already clinched no worse than the #2 seed in the Freedom Conference playoffs and can still earn the top seed with a win at Eastern on Saturday.

DSU trailed early as the Cougars (6-8, 2-3 Freedom) scored the first three goals of the game before Bracale tallied two straight to pull the Bulldogs within one early in the second quarter.  Both teams went scoreless for a stretch of nearly eight minutes before MU finished the half with two straight goals to take a 5-2 lead into the locker room.

Bracale and freshman Justin Wilson made it a one-goal game yet again with two goals in the third quarter before Miseri regained a two-goal lead at the 11:54 mark of the fourth quarter.  That two-goal lead lasted just nine seconds as senior James Guerrier scored off an assist from senior Evan Burns.

Just under seven minutes later DSU tied it at six when Bracale scored for the fourth time with 4:57 left to play.  Neither team scored over the final 4:57 as the game went to overtime.  In the OT, MU won the faceoff, called timeout and fired one shot that was saved by sophomore Matt Warnken.  Just over 40 seconds later the Cougars found the game-winner to defeat the Bulldogs in overtime for the second straight time.

Junior Dylan Baxter finished 6-for-16 in faceoffs in the loss and picked up four ground balls.  Warnken was strong in goal once again making 15 saves.

As mentioned above the Bulldogs will finish up their regular season schedule on the road at Eastern University on Saturday beginning at 1:00 pm.
