Collegeville, PA (April 27, 2014) – Senior Brian Mauro highlighted the DeSales University baseball team's ninth straight win on Sunday, 8-2 over Ursinus, doubling in the ninth inning to become just the third player in team history to record 200 career hits in a non-conference game.

Mauro joins Ian Hauze and Dan Fratantoro as the only players in school history with 200 career hits for the Bulldogs.  He finished the game 1-for-5 with a run scored and is now hitting .369 on the season with a team-high 12 doubles.  Mauro is also the all-time leader in doubles at DeSales with 60.

On Sunday DSU trailed early as Ursinus scored twice in the first inning to lead 2-0 until the Bulldogs got on the board in the third with one run on an RBI groundout from freshman Tommy DePaul plating sophomore Carrington Santana.

DeSales took control in the fourth scoring four runs on an RBI single from freshman Mike Kacergis, two-RBI single from sophomore Alec Hardy, and an RBI bunt from freshman Tyler Sweeney.  The Bulldogs added two more in the fifth on sacrifice flies from junior Nick Fischer and senior Charles Dennis and provided the final tally in the seventh with another run on RBI single from Santana.

Sophomore Chris Zampini was outstanding on the bump going seven innings in his first collegiate start allowing just six hits and two runs, while striking out four.

The bottom of the Bulldogs order did most of the offensive damage as the 7-9 hitters went a combined 6-for-12 with four RBIs, and three runs scored.  Kacergis was 3-for-4 with an RBI and run scored, Santana was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, and Hardy was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

The Bulldogs are right back on the diamond tomorrow when they travel to Muhlenberg College for a non-conference game beginning at 3:30 pm.
