Center Valley, PA (April 5, 2014) – Junior Ryan Loughlin and senior James Guerrier each had two goals leading the DeSales University men's lacrosse team past King's College, 5-3, in a Freedom Conference defensive battle on a windy Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (3-7, 2-0 Freedom) have now won three straight and remain unbeaten in Freedom Conference play this season.

DSU took control of a tie game at the half early in the third quarter scoring twice on a King's (4-6, 0-2 Freedom) non-releasable penalty to take a 3-1 lead.

The Monarchs fought back pulling within one at the end of third quarter and tied the game with 5:17 left to play, but the Bulldogs wasted no time regaining the lead as Guerrier scored just 48 seconds later and Loughlin gave DSU an insurance goal with 2:44 remaining as the Bulldogs ran out the clock on offense over the final 2+ minutes.

Freshman Jake McNamara scored the other DeSales goal and senior Evan Burns had three assists in the win.  Senior Jacob Bernier and junior Lance Bracale each had assists for the Bulldogs.

Junior Dylan Baxter won 7-of-11 face-offs and Loughlin led the way with six ground balls.  Junior Bryan Correnti also played well on defense picking up four ground balls and forcing three Monarch turnovers.  Sophomore Matt Warnken was outstanding in goal making 10 saves.

King's out-shot DeSales, 23-21, while the Bulldogs had a 29-25 advantage in ground balls.

DSU returns to action on Wednesday, April 9th when they travel to FDU-Florham for another Freedom Conference game beginning at 7:00 pm.
