Box Score Season Photo GalleryWest Lawn, PA (May 2, 2014) – Manhattanville College scored four runs in the top of the fifth breaking open a close game and the Bulldogs never recovered in a 9-2 loss to the Valiants in the opening game of the Freedom Conference Baseball Tournament on Friday afternoon at Owls Field.
MVC (23-13) scored two runs in the top of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead on two hits, a walk, and a hit batter. The Bulldogs (25-14) chipped away with a solo run in the second inning and in the fourth inning to tie the game at two. In the second senior

Manhattanville wasted no time reclaiming the lead in the top of the fifth taking advantage of two walks and a hit batter as
Bobby Guerra hit a two-out bases clearing double off the wall in left field just out of the reach of Dennis who crashed into the wall to plate three runs and gave the Valiants a 6-2 lead.
DSU had just two base-runners over the next four innings before leaving the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth and Manhattanville plated one run in the eighth and two more in the ninth to provide the final tally.
Alex Basso earned the win for the Valiants improving to 6-1 on the year. He went all nine innings allowing just six hits and striking out nine, while throwing 163 pitches. Sophomore
Steven Wallace took the loss allowing six runs over 4 2/3.
Guerra entered the game hitting just .248 for the Valiants but came up big on Friday afternoon with three hits and five RBI's in the win. Dennis led the Bulldogs with two hits and Fuse scored twice in the loss.
DeSales will now look to make a championship run in the loser's bracket and will face elimination on Saturday morning when they take on the loser of the FDU-Florham/Misericordia game taking place tonight at Owls Field at 11:00 am.
