Eagles Pull Away in Second-Half for 12-5 Win in Freedom Title Game

St. David's, PA (May 3, 2014) – Eastern University scored two goals to finish the second quarter and added five more to start the third period to break a tie at three and held off the Bulldogs, 12-5, in the Freedom Conference Championship game on Saturday afternoon.
 
After EU (14-4 overall) opened the game with three straight goals in the first quarter the Bulldogs (6-11 overall) showed they weren't going to back down scoring three straight of their own to tie the game at three with 5:57 to go in the first-half.
 
The Eagles answered with a goal at the 2:41 mark and then took the momentum into the halftime locker room with a tally with just five seconds left.
 
Eastern then came out firing in the second-half scoring five straight goals to take a 10-3 lead and DeSales was never able to recover.
 
DSU goal scorers were junior Nate Blevins, senior James Guerrier, freshman Justin Wilson, freshman Jake McNamara, and junior Lance Bracale.  Bracale, junior Ryan Loughlin, and senior Evan Burns added assists in the loss.  Sophomore Matt Warnken made 14 saves in between the pipes.
 
The Bulldogs finish the season with a 6-11 overall record and having won the first-ever playoff game in team history.
