Cambridge, MA (September 13, 2014) – The DeSales University volleyball team split its two matches on Saturday at the MIT Invitational losing a tough five-setter to Tufts University, 3-2 (21-25, 7-25, 25-18, 25-19, 10-15), before rallying to top Bates College, 3-1 (25-14, 23-25, 25-11, 26-24) to finish in third place among the 12 teams.
Senior
Amanda Wallitsch was the lone Bulldog named to the All-Tournament team finishing with just shy of 80 digs over the weekend in the four matches.
In the opening match on Saturday, DSU fought back from down 2-0 to force a fifth set but were unable to finish off the comeback losing 15-10 in the fifth set.

Julie Blessing had 11 kills and three blocks, senior
Chrissy Banos finished with 10 kills and five blocks, and freshman
Logan Wieziolowski added eight kills and three blocks in the loss.
Wallitsch finished with 28 digs and freshman
Bernadette Wood added 18 digs and five aces, while sophomore
Lisa Wallitsch had 38 assists and 14 digs. Senior
Brooke Horrigan finished the match with six kills, two aces, 12 digs, and two blocks.
DSU rebounded to defeat Bates in four sets as the freshman combo of Wieziolowski and
Sienna Heist combined for 23 kills and Wieziolowski had three blocks. A. Wallitsch totaled 16 digs and L. Wallitsch had 30 assists and 15 digs. Stats for the Bates match were incomplete due to a technology error and might be adjusted after watching the film on Monday.
The Bulldogs return to action this week as they open Freedom Conference play on the road traveling to King's College on Wednesday beginning at 7:00 pm.
