Offense Comes Alive in 3-0 Win over Cabrini

Center Valley, PA (September 17, 2014) – The offense came alive for the DeSales University women's soccer team on Wednesday afternoon as the Bulldogs scored three times, its first multi-goal game of the season, to earn a 3-0 win over Cabrini College on another gorgeous day.

DSU (2-4-1) had scored just once entering the game despite out-shooting three of its first six opponents.  Freshman Danni Engwall got the Bulldogs on the board in the 28th minute taking a perfectly placed pass over the top from fellow freshman Angelica Bertola, side-stepping a defender, and beating the goalie inside the near post.  It was Engwall's second goal of the season as that score stood into the half.

In the second-half junior Belen Perez gave DSU an insurance goal as she received a terrific pass thru the Cavalier (1-5) defense down from freshman Marissa Raia down the left sideline and beat the goalie inside the near post for her first career goal at 78:51.

Senior Brady Walsh got into the scoring act just seven minutes later when Engwall sent a pass over the top to Walsh who touched the ball past a charging keeper into the net.  It was Walsh 75th career point, tying her for second on the all-time scoring list at DeSales.

Senior Michelle Churchman needed just one save behind another stellar defensive effort led by sophomore Esther Younger and freshman Rachel Logue to record her third shutout of the year.

The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday, September 20th when they travel to Widener University for another non-conference game beginning at 5:30 pm.
