Reading, PA (September 20, 2014) – Alvernia University scored 5:11 into the second-half breaking a scoreless tie for the lone goal of the game in a 1-0 win over the DeSales University men's soccer team on Saturday afternoon.
Alvernia (4-3-1) dominated play out-shooting the Bulldogs (3-4-1), 20-2 for the game and holding a 10-0 edge in corner kicks.
Despite an 11-0 edge in shots at the half the game was still tied, thanks in part to three first-half saves from senior
Colin Sulpizio.
The Crusaders found the back of the net 5:11 into the second half as
Alex Martyn took a pass from
Josh Wollaston and beat Sulpizio for his fifth goal of the season.
Sulpizio finished the game with seven saves for the Bulldogs.
DSU returns to action on Wednesday, September 24
th when they travel cross-town to take on local rival Muhlenberg College beginning at 7:00 pm.
