Bulldogs Move Unbeaten Streak to Three with 3-1 Win over Moravian

Center Valley, PA (September 24, 2014) – Senior Brady Walsh had a goal and an assist leading the DeSales University women's soccer team past local rival Moravian College, 3-1, to extend DSU's unbeaten streak to three straight in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (3-4-2) opened the scoring in the 25th minute when Walsh took a throw-in on the right sideline and beat a defender into the box where she dribbled to the end line and sent a pass into the center of the box for freshman Marissa Raia who one-timed a shot into the back of the net for her first career goal.  It was Walsh' 12th career assist moving her into a tie for third place all-time.

Walsh added an unassisted goal just 1:26 later as she beat two defenders to a ball over the top and then narrowly beat a charging keeper to the ball, tapping it just past the diving keeper and gently tapped the ball into a wide open net for her 33rd career goal and 78th career point.

Moravian got back within one goal in the 31st minute when Melissa Walko took a throw-in, beat a defender, took two dribbles and fired a shot just over the keeper's head into the net from about 25 yards out.

The score remained 2-1 entering the 77th minute when senior Emily DeOliveira did her best bend it like Beckham imitation, bending a corner kick feed into the net untouched for her first goal of the season and the second of her career giving DSU a 3-1 lead and ultimately the win.

Senior Michelle Churchman made two saves as DSU out-shot Moravian, 9-8, for the game.

DeSales is back in action on Saturday when they host NYU in a non-conference game on homecoming beginning at 12:30 pm.
