NYU Spoils DeSales Homecoming with 5-1 Win over Bulldogs

Center Valley, PA (September 27, 2014) – NYU scored two goals in a span of 4:18 mid-way thru the first half breaking open a tie game at one and added two more tallies in the second half en route to a 5-1 win over the DeSales University women's soccer team on Homecoming Saturday afternoon.

After the Violets (5-3) opened the scoring just 1:29 into the game the Bulldogs (3-5-2) tied the game at one at the 16:00 minute mark when sophomore Jess Wetherhold sent a perfect pass over the top of the NYU defense to a streaking senior Brady Walsh who dribbled past a charging keeper and knocked the ball into the open net for her third goal of the season and Wetherhold's first assist.

NYU re-claimed the lead 9:41 later and took a 3-1 lead in the 30th minute with that score holding up into the half.  The Violets scored twice more in the second-half in the 54th and 67th minute to provide the final tally.

Walsh is now just one goal shy of tying for second place all-time with 35 career goals.  Senior Michelle Churchman made seven saves in the loss between the pipes.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Wednesday, October 1st when they travel to local rival Muhlenberg College for another non-conference game beginning at 7:00 pm.
