Center Valley, PA (September 27, 2014) – NYU scored two goals in a span of 4:18 mid-way thru the first half breaking open a tie game at one and added two more tallies in the second half en route to a 5-1 win over the DeSales University women's soccer team on Homecoming Saturday afternoon.
After the Violets (5-3) opened the scoring just 1:29 into the game the Bulldogs (3-5-2) tied the game at one at the 16:00 minute mark when sophomore
Jess Wetherhold sent a perfect pass over the top of the NYU defense to a streaking senior
Brady Walsh who dribbled past a charging keeper and knocked the ball into the open net for her third goal of the season and Wetherhold's first assist.
NYU re-claimed the lead 9:41 later and took a 3-1 lead in the 30
th minute with that score holding up into the half. The Violets scored twice more in the second-half in the 54
th and 67
th minute to provide the final tally.
Walsh is now just one goal shy of tying for second place all-time with 35 career goals. Senior
Michelle Churchman made seven saves in the loss between the pipes.
The Bulldogs will return to action on Wednesday, October 1
st when they travel to local rival Muhlenberg College for another non-conference game beginning at 7:00 pm.
