Men’s Soccer Rolls past Delaware Valley, 7-0

Center Valley, PA (October 20, 2015) – The DeSales University men's soccer team scored a season-high seven goals en route to a 7-0 win over Delaware Valley University in a MAC Freedom game on Tuesday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (6-8-2, 1-2-2 MAC Freedom) earn their first win in MAC Freedom play this season out-shooting DVU (4-11-1, 0-5 MAC Freedom) 19-8 for the game and holding a 10-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Freshman Max Cortina started the scoring at 13:24 as freshman Zach Reichard slotted a pass to the end line to fellow freshman Michael Kirby who found Cortina in front of the net as he volleyed the pass home for the game's first goal.

Just over seven minutes later Reichard scored flicking a header just past the DVU goalkeeper off a free kick from Kirby and Kirby made it 3-0 at the half taking a pass from Reichard after a long pass down the right sideline from Cortina.

The Bulldogs needed just 15 seconds to get on the board in the second-half as freshman Charlie Jerry scored on a loose ball on a failed clear attempt from the Aggie defense.

Reichard tallied his second goal of the game and his sixth point on the afternoon at 53:17 chipping a shot over a charging keeper after a nice slot pass from freshman Justin Habick.

The final margin was then posted in the 84th and 86th minute as freshman Dan Rumpf scored off a long header pass from junior Damian Grycel and sophomore Cheikh Thiam headed home a long throw-in from junior Marcus Morris.

Sophomore Dan Sulpizio recorded his third shutout of the year making four saves in goal.

The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday when they host Wilkes University in another important MAC Freedom game beginning at 2:30 pm.
