Owings Mills, MD (November 21, 2015) – Salisbury University set a team record with 19 three-pointers in an 89-79 win over the DeSales University men's basketball team on day two of the Hoopsville National Invitational Classic on Saturday afternoon at Stevenson University.

The Seagulls (4-0) were unconscious from the field all afternoon shooting 57.4 percent from the field and an incredible 63.3 percent (19-for-30) from three-point land in the win.  DSU was also hot from the field hitting 54.7 percent from the field and a very respectable 44.4 percent (8-for-18) from outside the arc.

Five players reached double digits for the Bulldogs (2-2) including senior Cody Deal with 16 points, sophomore Aaron Burton and junior Ryan Callahan with 13 points, junior Kuity Slanger with 11 points, and junior Brian Laird with 10 points.  Slanger was named to the All-Classic team adding nine assists and six rebounds on Saturday to his stat line.

SU also had five players reach double digits including Justin May off the bench with 19 points on five three-pointers, Kyle Savercool with 16 points, Rocky Harris and Gordon Jeter each with 12 points, and Chad Barcikowski with 11 points.  Eight different players made a three as part of the team record 19 triples.

The first-half featured two ties and eight lead changes but saw Salisbury finish the half on a 10-2 run after a three-pointer from Deal made it 38-36 at the 3:30 mark giving the Seagulls a 48-38 halftime lead.

SU quickly pushed its lead to 16 points with two three's to open the second-half but the Bulldogs refused to go away despite Salisbury torrid shooting.

A 12-2 run over the next 3:20 thanks to five points from both Deal and Burton cut the deficit down to six points (56-50) with 14:54 to go.

The two teams traded baskets over the next several minutes with the Bulldogs unable to cut any deeper into the deficit as Salisbury continued to lead by six points (83-77) with just 2:42 left before six straight points iced the win.

Salisbury made 13 field goals in the second-half, 10 of which were three-pointers.  DSU did an excellent job of taking care of the ball committing just nine turnovers for the game.  The Seagulls got 42 points from their bench.

The Bulldogs are right back to action on Tuesday when they welcome local rival Moravian College to Billera Hall with tip set for 8:00 pm.
