Bulldogs Dominate First-Half in 10-6 Win over Kean

Center Valley, PA (March 25, 2015) – Junior Matt Warnken made 11 saves and senior Dylan Baxter had 12 face-off wins and picked up 12 ground balls leading the DeSales University men's lacrosse team past Kean University, 10-6, in a soggy non-conference game on Wednesday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (3-4 overall) dominated the first-half, shaking off an early goal by the Cougars (4-3 overall), scoring five straight to end the first quarter to take a 5-1 lead.  DSU won all seven first quarter face-offs.

Kean again scored first in the second quarter but senior Nate Blevins quickly answered with his fourth goal of the year and the Bulldogs got a huge goal with just six seconds left in the half to take a 7-2 lead into the break.

Both teams scored twice in the third quarter and DeSales held off any sort of rally in the fourth quarter, earning its first-ever win over Kean in the first-ever game played at DeSales in the four-game series.

Warnken was outstanding in goal making several point blank saves to preserve the lead.  Baxter dominated the face-offs winning his first seven allowing DeSales to build a big first-half lead and finished the game going 12-for-18 in FO's, picking up 12 ground balls.

Freshman Josh Harman, senior Ryan Rowse, freshman Joe Neggia, and Blevins each had two goals to lead a balanced scoring attack.  Sophomore Justin Wilson and senior Ryan Loughlin also scored.  Harman added two assists and Baxter and sophomore Ryan Jordan also added assists in the win.

Junior Tim Barry had three caused turnovers to lead the defense.

The Bulldogs now enter Freedom Conference play the rest of the season with their first test coming on Thursday, April 2nd when they host FDU-Florham beginning at 4:00 pm.
