Men’s Lacrosse Drops Conference Opener, 10-8, to FDU-Florham

Center Valley, PA (April 2, 2015) – FDU-Florham scored four straight goals between the end of the third quarter and start of the fourth quarter, erasing a one-goal deficit, in a 10-8 win over the DeSales University men's lacrosse team in Freedom Conference action on Thursday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (3-5, 0-1 Freedom) shook off tough first quarter to score four straight goals to start the second quarter taking a 5-4 lead before the Devils (5-4, 1-0 Freedom) scored with 49 seconds left in the half to tie the game at five at the break.

DSU scored first in the third quarter to take a 6-5 lead before being given back-to-back penalties, including a three minutes body check for targeting.  FDU scored quickly before the first penalty expired up two men but the Bulldogs, still down a man, got a man-down goal at 4:32 to re-take a 7-6 lead.

Florham continued on the man-up advantage though and tied the score at seven with 3:28 to go just as the extra man opportunity had expired.  The Devils added another goal with 1:50 left in the quarter to take an 8-7 lead and added two more goals, the last coming at 3:31 to build a three-goal lead to earn the win.

Freshman Joe Neggia led the Bulldogs with two goals and two assists to lead the scoring attack.  Senior Ryan Loughlin also scored twice, while freshman Josh Harman, senior Ryan Rowse, senior Nate Blevins, and sophomore Justin Wilson also scored.  Rowse, Blevins, and sophomore Sean Palen all had assists for the Bulldogs.

Senior Dylan Baxter won 9-of-18 face-offs and Neggia also led DSU with four ground balls.  Junior Tim Barry had a team-high two caused turnovers and junior Matt Warnken made eight saves in between the pipes.

The Bulldogs are off this weekend and will return to action on Wednesday, April 8th traveling to King's College for another Freedom Conference game beginning at 7:00 pm.
