San Antonio, TX (March 5, 2015) – #18 Trinity University scored three runs in the fourth inning and the Bulldogs couldn't find the answer falling to the Tigers, 4-3, in DSU's fifth game in five days during its spring break trip to Texas.
For the second straight day DSU (2-3) started quickly scoring once in the first inning on an RBI groundout from junior
Alec Hardy and twice in the third on two Trinity errors to take a 3-1 lead after three innings.
The Tigers rallied in the fourth sending nine men to the plate and scoring three times to take a 4-3 lead and that ended the scoring for both teams.
The bullpen was outstanding for DSU, tossing 4 1/3 hitless innings to give the offense a chance to pull even.
DeSales put runners on first and second in the fifth with two outs but the inning ended on a fly ball to centerfield. In the sixth, the Bulldogs again threatened with runners on the corners and two outs but a ground out to first base ended the threat.
In the ninth a single and Trinity error had runners on first and second with two outs but TU's
Matt Tindall shut the door striking out the side to earn the save.
Junior
Chris Polaski took the loss allowing four hits and four runs over 3 2/3 innings. Sophomore
Tommy DePaul had three hits, stole a base, and scored once, and sophomore
Mike Kacergis had two hits as part of DSU's 10-hit attack.
The Bulldogs are right back in action on Friday when they take on McMurry University in the first of three games Friday/Saturday at Trinity University.
