Chris Polaski fired seven strong innings allowing just one unearned run leading the DeSales University baseball team past Delaware Valley University, 11-1, in Freedom Conference action on Tuesday afternoon at Butz Field.
Polaski allowed just two hits and six base runners in his seven innings, striking out six to earn his second win of the season. He faced the minimum in five of his seven innings.
The Bulldogs (18-12, 13-2 Freedom) actually trailed 1-0 entering the bottom of the fourth inning before the offense got going.
DSU scored twice in the fourth and fifth innings to take a 4-1 lead. In the fourth sophomore
Mike Kacergis doubled and junior
Colby Kulig laid down a bunt single. Kacergis then scored on a double steal and Kulig moved to third on an error and scored on a wild pitch a few pitches later. In the fifth, DeSales took advantage of two Aggie errors to plate two runs on two hits.
The Bulldogs added a solo run in the sixth when junior
Alec Hardy singled home Kulig and broke the game open with three runs in both the seventh and eighth innings to provide the final tally.
DePaul registered three more hits and scored once, freshman
Hunter Hart, Kulig, junior
Carrington Santana, and Hardy each had two hits to lead a 14-hit attack.
The Bulldogs are back in action tomorrow when they host Ursinus College in a non-conference game beginning at 3:30 pm.
