Montclair, NJ (April 28, 2015) – Sophomore
Alexa Beaumont hit a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning breaking a tie at four and leading the DeSales University softball team past Montclair State University, 5-4, in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (14-13 overall) jumped out early scoring four times in the first inning as senior
Carly Bartholomew freshman
Haley Frati, and junior
Samantha Gibson all had RBIs in the inning.
MSU (13-22) chipped away at the lead scoring once in the bottom of the first and then tied the game at four in the bottom of the fifth inning plating three runs.
The game remained tied into the seventh inning where with one out Beaumont blasted her fourth HR of the season to give DSU the lead and ultimately the win.
Junior
DJ McCauley earned the win, her eighth of the season, allowing four runs over seven innings striking out two. McCauley, Beaumont, and Bartholomew all had two hits to lead the offensive attack.
The Bulldogs return to action on Friday when they open the Freedom Conference Tournament at 10:00 am taking on King's College in the first game.
