Cortland, NY (May 10, 2015) – The DeSales University softball run thru the NCAA Regional Tournament came to an end on Sunday morning falling to Heidelberg University, 5-1, in the Regional Championship game.
The Bulldogs season ends with a 19-15 overall record. DSU won its third Freedom Conference Championship and equaled its best showing in the NCAA Tournament posting a 2-2 record in the Regional Tournament.

DJ McCauley knocked in junior
Michelle Gessner. Heidelberg (33-8) tied the game in the bottom half of the inning with a two-out single.
It remained a 1-1 game into the fourth inning with the Bulldogs holding the best chance to reclaim the lead when Gessner was tossed out at the plate in the top of third inning on after a single from sophomore
Alexa Beaumont.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Heidelberg took the lead for good scoring four runs, three unearned, to take a 5-1 lead and the Bulldogs were unable to mount another rally.
McCauley suffered the loss despite pitching well again, scattering 11 hits over six innings allowing just two earned runs and striking out three. DSU had five hits in the loss.
Following the game McCauley, Beaumont, and junior
Samantha Gibson were each named to the All-Tournament Team.
