Baseball Swept by Division I Lehigh

So. Danny Licamara hit his first career home run at Lehigh on Saturday.

Bethlehem, PA (May 2, 2015) – The DeSales University baseball team was swept by NCAA Division I Lehigh University in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon, 9-3 and 18-1, in the Bulldogs final tune-up before the Freedom Conference Baseball Tournament begins on Thursday at Owl's Field next week.
 
Game One (L/3-9)
Lehigh (21-25) scored three times in the first and second innings to take a 6-0 lead and led 7-0 after four innings.  DSU (25-15) got two runs back in the sixth inning on an RBI triple from sophomore Mike Kacergis and a sacrifice fly from junior Colby Kulig.
 
Lehigh added solo runs in the seventh and eighth innings before sophomore Danny Licamara hit his first career home run in the top of the ninth inning to provide the final tally in game one.
 
Junior Steven Wallace suffered the loss allowing six runs over three innings pitched, striking out two.  DSU managed six hits in game one led by junior Carlos Urena with two hits.
 
Game Two (L/1-18)
The Mountain Hawks once again jumped out early scoring seven times in the first inning including a grand slam home run from Connor Donovan and the Bulldogs were unable to recover.
 
DSU got its lone run in the second inning when Kacergis singled and scored on a double play two batters later.  The Bulldogs had five hits in game two, including two by Kacergis in the loss.
 
Sophomore Andrew Schuler took the loss for DeSales.
 
The Bulldogs are now off till Thursday when they open the Freedom Conference Tournament as the top seed, taking on fourth seeded Eastern University beginning at 4:00 pm at Owl's Field.
