Bethlehem, PA (September 1, 2015) – Freshman
Gabby Savite' led a balanced offensive attack with nine kills as the DeSales University volleyball team opened the 2015 season with a 3-0 (27-25, 25-21, 25-22) win over local rival Moravian College on Tuesday evening.
The Bulldogs (1-0 overall) came from behind late in all three sets as DSU trailed 25-24 in the first set, 19-17 in the second set, and 21-18 in the third set to earn the win.
Junior
Lisa Wallitsch was outstanding, particularly in the third set when she served five straight points to turn the match around. She finished with 29 assists, three aces, and 12 digs in the win.
Savite' finished with nine kills and two blocks in her collegiate debut, while sophomore
Logan Wieziolowski and senior
Kait Anderson each had seven kills. Wieziolowski added five blocks and freshman
Natalie Gray was outstanding in the back with a team-high 17 digs.
The Bulldogs return to action on Friday for day one of the DeSales University Invitational beginning at 3:00 pm in Billera Hall.
