DSU Splits on Day One of Buttermaker Tournament

Allentown, PA (September 11, 2015) – The DeSales University volleyball team split its two matches on day one of the Buttermaker Tournament held at Muhlenberg College sweeping Dickinson College, 3-0 (25-15, 25018, 27-25) and falling to Stevenson University, 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-17) on Friday evening.
 
Match #1 (3-0 Win, 25-15, 25-18, 27-25)
DSU recorded double digit kills in each of the three sets to earn the win.  Junior Lisa Wallitsch had a strong match finishing with five kills, 31 assists, two aces, and 14 digs.  She also recorded the 2,000th career assist in the match becoming just the seventh Bulldog to record 2,000+ assists in a career.
 
Freshman Gabby Savite' and sophomore Logan Wieziolowski each had 10 kills and Wieziolowski added four blocks.  Savite' finished with 12 digs and senior Laura Greenberg led the team with four service aces.
 
Match #2 (3-0 Loss, 16-25, 22-25, 17-25)
Stevenson raced out to early leads in sets one and three and pulled away late in the second set to earn the straight set win.
 
Wieziolowski was the lone Bulldog with double digits kills tallying 10.  Savite' had eight and picked up 13 digs.  Wallitsch finished with 27 assists and freshman Natalie Gray added a team-high 14 digs in the loss.
 
The Bulldogs return to action tomorrow morning vs. Neumann University at 10:00 am before a second match tomorrow afternoon to wrap-up the tournament.
